The Wem & District Bowling League was founded by Peter Broadhurst and a small committee in 1995 to encourage bowlers of all abilities to enjoy the sport.  He believed that bowling was a vey competitive sport but at the same time could also be enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere by bowlers who  wished to take part for the pleasure of the sport.  It is still regarded by those who play in the league to be a friendly night out with pleasurable bowling especially  on a fine summer evening.

The League has grown from one division of ten teams to five divisions of eleven teams for 2010 in just fourteen years which shows it is the newest and fastest growing league in Shropshire.

 

This year we have a new sponsor Terry Jones Solicitors of Shrewsbury and we hope to forge a long realtionship with them.
