The turn out was very disappointing condsidering the nice weather. However this was no doubt partly due to the change in date.
However an enjoyable day with some excellent bowling rewarded those who did compete.
There were some close games and none more so than the semi finals. Darren Wellings beat Den Walton in a close game as did Tony Cunningham in the other semi final against team mate George Thomas.
The final was equally close until Darren Wellings finally took the lead and ran out.
Thanks to all who took part.
Den Walton Semi Finalist ,Darren Wellings Winner, Tony Cunningham Runner Up and George Thomas Semi Finalist

The Doubles Competition took place at Telepost BC on Sunday 11 July on a glorious day and the greens were flying. Even the home bowlers were struggling and as one commented it produced marks that they did not know.
20 bowlers took part and throroughly enjoyed the day. We used two greens to try and finish in time for those who wanted to watch the World Cup. We just made it as the final bowl was delivered at 7pm.
We had close quarter finals with Andy Judson and Jonny Davies losing to Tony and Emily Cinningham 20/21, Nigel Ferrington and Graham Jones just managed to get the better of home bowlers John Addison and Gary Beaman 21/18. Mark Sneade and Mark Parsons lost 11/21 to Chris Kelly and Kevin Jones and finally Adie Spender and Jon Oliver beat Lee Walmsley and Andy Gregg 21/18
The Semi Finals saw Tony and Emily Cunningham beaten 20/21 by Nigel Ferrrington and Graham Jones but it was any bodies match to the last wood. The second game was Chris Kelly and Kevin Jones against Adie Spender and Jon Oliver which again was close up to 14 across and the Chris and Kevin drew ahead and finally won 21/15.
The Final swayed each way. Nigel and Graham took a good lead over Chris and Kevin at 9/3, and 13/8 up to 14 across to 14/17 down and a score of three from Chris and Kevin and a one from Nigel and Graham made the card 17/15 to Chris and Kevin who then followed with a three,. Nigel and Graham the replied with a three and made the score 20/18 to Chriis and Kevin and the Final end Graham and Nigel were lying three oin for game when Kevin came in with his final wood and took the game. It could not have been a better final.
